The final episode of Nikita aired earlier tonight. It was action-packed, fast-paced, and full of emotion. I, like many others, was fooled by Nikita's act. Her darkness; her inability to look at the situation in a realistic way, not caring about casualties, collateral, and what her loved ones felt about her actions. When it was revealed that it had all been a con, and that Nikita and Alex hadn't killed anyone, I yelled out with pride, "YES!" The look on Amanda's face was pure joy to see. Not only had Nikita fooled us, she had fooled Amanda. She ultimately paid the price.
In the beginning of the season, I had wanted Amanda to die. I despise her and her evilness. But when she "died" in episode four, I felt a ping of remorse and unhappiness. Maybe death wasn't her fate. We learned Amanda's fate--to be stuck in the basement, always and forever, and suffer like she did when she was a child. I was happy with the way her story line finished.
I was so happy and proud of Alex. She has gone through so much over the past four years, and she really deserved this. Alex is my favorite character on the show because of the hardship she has been through. Yet, with all that hardship, she prevailed, constantly overcoming obstacles and finding who she was as Alexandra Udinov. Not to mention she kicked ass, whether as a double agent in Division, a Russian girl looking to avenge her father's death, or an advocator for human rights.
Birkhoff.... I love you and all your nerdiness. Nerds rule (and I am one of them)! I loved the ending of his story line, and that he settles down with Sonya. Perhaps there will be a marriage? I'll just have to imagine what it would be like!
Although Sam doesn't turn back to Owen, I am happy with his ending. He's Sam, with a lot of Owen-like qualities, and working with Alex. Although I was, honestly, first yucked out at the idea of them hooking up (Sean will always be my favorite!!), I have warmed up to the idea of them ultimately dating.
It's hard to believe that it has been three years since the show premiered. I was in my junior year of high school. Now I'm in my sophomore year of college. I know it's cliche to talk about how time passes by so quickly, but with all the change I've gone through the past three years, it is a bit nostalgic to look back on Nikita. And to think that one of my favorite shows is coming to an end--has come to an end--is sad. On this cold Friday night (I live in Rhode Island, where it is currently just below freezing), it seems strange that I won't be seeing all of you on my tv every week. Yet I know it is over....after all, I cried like a baby, which started around the 9:55pm mark. Gosh, those closing scenes pulled at my heartstrings. Mikita. Oh, Mikita. That final scene with Nikita and Michael on the beach in Ecuador made me so happy. They are together, husband and wife. The chemistry between Maggie and Shane is breathtaking. One kiss alone, like the one in episode 3 of this season, looks like sex, it's so hot and full of passion.
My reaction to the Nikita finale? That was.... perfect <3
Although the ratings haven't been the best, I know that the fans, myself included, have always stood by the show's side, supporting it wholeheartedly. In my opinion, it is one of the most well-written shows on television, and THE best show on the CW. It is a shame that it hasn't gotten the recognition, attention, or promotion it should have gotten in its run on the network. Yet that does not deter me from loving this show, and sharing it with others. I am known by my friends to be someone who gets others obsessed with TV shows or movies. Well I did my job well with Nikita. It deserves so much recognition for its amazing writing, and it's extremely talented cast.
Yes, all of you. Maggie, Lyndsy, Shane, Aaron, Devon, Noah, Lyndie, Melinda, Dillon, Xander, and many more. I love you all so much. All of you together makes me smile, and the chemistry formed between everyone is pure and 100% real. I am going to miss seeing you all each week. I want to thank all of you. I know actors usually say that it is the fans that should be thanked, I still want to thank you. Because without all of you, there would be no Nikita. You each played your characters so well, and us fans owe it to you for making a show we all love. I especially want to thank Maggie and Lyndsy, the dynamic duo, who constantly kick ass, and prove that having women as leads on a show produces something fierce, powerful, and ground-breaking.
I want to thank the crew, who created everything in the Nikitaverse, from sets, to clothes, to makeup, to the AMAZINGLY choreographed fights. That fight between Alex and Nikita tonight? AMAZING! Lastly, the incomperable Craig Silverstein. You are the KING. Thank you, thank you, thank you for creating this beautiful and amazing show. I am so happy that it exists, and it is all thanks to you.
I know this letter is quite long, but I really wanted to express my gratitude, thanks, and love for this show and all of you who made it happen. Tonight, a four season run of an amazing show came to an end. But it will always be remembered. I will always remember it. I will continue to love it. I will constantly have marathons and smile, laugh, cry, and yell at the same places every time. Nikita will never get old. The show--and all of you--will live on forever.
Thank you Maggie, Lyndsy, Shane, Aaron, Devon, Noah, Lyndie, Melinda, Dillon, Xander, and the many others who were a part of this show.
Long live Nikita.
Love always,
Isabel
