So again, it's been a while since my last Music Monday. What can I say, I've actually had a busy and productive summer this year! Anyway, here are five songs I enjoy. I hope you enjoy them too!
Wasting All These Tears by Cassadee Pope The season 3 winner of The Voice is a fantastic one at that. I usually don't pay attention to these music competitions any more. However, Cassadee Pope caught my attention. I hadn't watched that season, but I was always hearing something about her. I then watched her performance of "Over You," originally sung by Miranda Lambert, and written by her and her husband (and Cassadee's coach), Blake Shelton. I instantly became a fan. But then, I discovered something. She had been the lead singer in the group Hey Monday. It was one of those "MIND BLOWN" moments, because I had listened to the group before they broke up. Fast forward to today, and she has two singles out as a solo artist. "Wasting All These Tears" is her first single from her upcoming album. With a transition from alternative/punk rock to a more of a country vibe, I think she has done spectacular. Her voice sounds amazing no matter the genre. Even if you aren't a country fan, you will definitely enjoy this song!
| Brave by Sara Bareilles Labeled as a human rights anthem, it is certainly a song you can jam out to but also listen to the lyrics and feel emotion. It is important to have songs like these, and Sara Bareilles, who has always been a human rights supporter, hits the mark with this song. It's catchy, the lyrics are inspiring, and it the performance is amazing. THIS is why she's a Grammy-winning artist. Say what you want to say, just let the words fall out. Honestly, I wanna see you be BRAVE. |
Yesterday by Atmosphere The lyrics in this song are very well-written. It is also a rap song, but it is like no other. Pay very close attention to the lyrics, and by the end of the song, you'll have a smile on your face. There isn't music, epsecially rap music, in recent years that is valuable. This is.
| Catch My Disease by Ben Lee I first heard this song on the show Hidden Palms (which probably no one knows about since it only had 8 episodes before it got canceled) and loved it. It's catchy, sounds great, and fun to listen to. And Beyonce is in the song! Well, her name is in the lyrics.... |
Forever Young (fast version) by Bob Dylan It's Bob Dylan. Need I say more?
