Welcome to my first Music Monday! I thought that this would be something cool to start on my blog so that people who visit could get to know what kind of music I listen to, and even be introduced to some new tunes! Every Monday, I will post FIVE songs that I really like. And I hope you all like them too!
This first song is by Ke$ha and is on her "Deconstructed" album that was released early this year. It is a cover of a Dolly Parton song, "Old Flames Can't Hold A Candle To You," and was actually written by Ke$ha's mother. A lot of people underestimate Ke$ha and think of her only as a wild child who sings party songs. I think she has an amazing voice, and a unique one at that. There aren't many singers whose voice is like hers. Her songwriting is also quite good, and has definitely improved (as well as her voice) since she first started out. When you listen to her songs, especially from her new album "Warrior," pay attention to the lyrics. You may not think it, but they actually mean something.
| One of my favorite bands is a British alternative rock band called One Night Only. Lead singer George Craig is fantastic, and the songs are great to rock out to. I have many favorite songs by them, but the one I will share with you today is their latest single (from last year). Their album STILL hasn't come out yet, but I'm patiently waiting! This song is called "Long Time Coming." |
I listen to Top 40. I listen to non-Top 40. So, here is the number 1 single on iTunes, "Blurred Lines" by Robin Thicke ft. Pharrell and T.I. It's definitely a catchy song and has a good beat.
| I LOVE 80's music. I really do. My favorite song from the 80's, which also happens to be my current ringtone, is "Come on Eileen" by Dexys Midnight Runners. GREAT song. Whenever it comes on my iPod, I have to blast it. It's a must. And after seeing Perks of Being a Wallflower last year, I'm even more in love with this song. |
Just because I'm in the mindset, I'm going to share another 80's song with you. Another favorite of mine is "Take On Me" by a-ha. No, this is not the remixed version in the Pitbull and Christina Aguilera song. This is the ORIGINAL. The one that is 100x better. So kids, listen to real and original music. Don't listen to singers who get money off of a song that took no energy to create.
